For Episode 8 of this Microsoft employee-focused interview series, I connected with Chris Slemp (@cslemp), a Scotland-based Customer Success Manager for the Modern Workplace team at Microsoft UK. Before his current role, he spent almost 16 years at Microsoft in various program management and planning roles, before spending 2 years as a director of strategy for a consulting firm, during which time he became a Yammer (Office Apps & Services) MVP, returning to Microsoft in late 2017.
In this episode, Chris and I talk about his history with social collaboration and community management within Microsoft, including running the Microsoft Yammer community for many years, and how he fell into his dream job as a CSM, moving from Washington State to Scotland. Chris shares some of his methodology for working with clients as a consultant and CSM, and talks about the rising importance of the CSM role in the modern workplace, including the need to focus on culture, business outcomes, and governance to achieve collaboration success.
