Blue Plate Special: Moev

Another bargain bin find in the early 1990’s, Moev is a Vancouver, BC-based electronic/techno pop band formed in 1981, and after a 4-year hiatus in the mid-90’s, they’ve been producing music since 1999. I remember hearing the single ‘Yeah Whatever’ sometime in 88/89 but never knew the band name, so I was happy to re-discover the album and single and become more familiar with the band. If you’re familiar with the record label Nettwerk, it was formed to release Moev’s albums. Another interesting side note: Sarah McLachlan provided some backup vocals on Moev tracks.

Some of my favorites:

Yeah Whatever – from the album Yeah Whatever (1988)

Madhatter – from the album The Early Years 1981-1982 (1982)

Running on Empty – from the album One Minute World (2014)

Alibis – from the album Dusk and Desire (1991)

Moscow Burnt to the Ground – from the single Hold On (2022)

Capital Heaven – from the album Yeah Whatever (1988)
