I was planning to create a series of blog posts categorizing content generated over the past year, but instead decided to condense most of them into a single, albeit shorter, blog post summarizing my Top 5 posts across my blog, podcast, and #MVPbuzzChat interview series. For anyone keeping track, I am continuing with my daily pace, about to close out 4 months of daily posts…in addition to my content contributions on the AvePoint blog and elsewhere. You can find a summary of all of my content under the ‘Monthly Summary‘ category on the right, which I meticulously document each month so that I can keep track of my own activities. It’s a great exercise to go through each month so that I can more easily keep track of content, webinars, in-person events, and any other contributions to the community. In a way, it acts as a monthly journal entry.

With that intro, here is the most read/viewed/clicked content from the past year:

Top 5 Blog Posts in 2021

For the first time ever, a blog post promoting one of my monthly tweetjams is the most-read blog post on my site. Of course, the topic was ‘Which Tool When,’ which remains one of the biggest questions that end users continue to ask about the Microsoft 365 platform. If you’re interested in more on that topic and what was discussed in the April 2021 CollabTalk TweetJam, check out my post-tweetjam interview with fellow RD and dual MVP (Office Apps & Services + Azure) Martina Grom (@magrom).

  1. #Microsoft365 and the ‘Which Tool & When’ Quandary
  2. Do I Use Planner, Project Online, or Azure DevOps?
  3. 40 Microsoft Teams Productivity Tips
  4. Understanding the Microsoft 365 Task Ecosystem
  5. 10 Considerations for a SharePoint Transformation

Top 5 Podcasts in 2021

One of my major goals this past year was to re-energize the CollabTalk Podcast, which is now a weekly activity. The most listened-to episode this year has been my June interview with Jay Leask (@jayleask), US Federal Director of Strategic Accounts & Solutions at AvePoint, who earned his Microsoft MVP just a couple months later. When I approached Jay about participating on the podcast, he didn’t think he had much to say — but clearly, people were interested! After this episode, I ramped up my content activities around the podcast, creating templates for the blog and social media that launched with Episode 22. As I repeat at the start of every episode, the focus of the show is to “discuss the convergence of technology, business productivity, and collaboration culture.” If you’ve not yet subscribed to the weekly show, you can find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Soundcloud, and all of the other major podcast platforms.

  1. Episode 21 | Microsoft 365 in the Federal Sector with Jay Leask
  2. Episode 34 | The Role of DevOps in Collaboration Culture with Mark Miller
  3. Episode 31 | Microsoft Loop and Collaboration in “The Flow of Work” with Darrell Webster
  4. Episode 33 | The State of Information Governance in the Modern Workplace with Nick Inglis
  5. Episode 22 | Citizen Developers in the Hybrid Workplace with Sean McDonough and Geoff Varosky

Top 5 MVP Interviews in 2021

And finally, here are the most listened to / watched MVP interviews as part of my #MVPbuzzChat series. This series is almost to the 150th episode (which we’ll reach on Jan 31st) and is a great way to get to know MVPs from across every discipline and from around the world. What began as an effort to get to know MVPs from outside of the SharePoint circles, it has become a fantastic networking tool. If there are any MVPs out there who would like to participate, please reach out to me!

  1. MVPbuzzChat Episode 116 with Don Kirkham
  2. MVPbuzzChat Episode 119 with Kevin McDonnell
  3. MVPbuzzChat Episode 110 with Johnny Lopez
  4. MVPbuzzChat Episode 113 with Emily Mancini
  5. MVPbuzzChat Episode 118 with Jese Navaranjan

And that’s my 2021 wrap-up on my top posts. Be sure to check out my monthly summaries for more detail around the content that I publish each month, and subscribe! Thanks
