A Tale of 3 Podcasts

I’ve been so busy producing content that I sometimes forget how nice it is to simply show up as a guest! Over this past week, I was a guest on two different podcasts — and also hosted one of these podcast hosts on my own CollabTalk Podcast:

You.Next Podcast with John DurantYou.Next Podcast

Led by John Durant, the focus of the You.Next Podcast is to “meet the people and discuss the principles that can help you develop the next version of you!” In my episode, we talk about my role at AvePoint, my passions for collaboration technology, and specifically how to balance remote and in-person collaboration. We also talk about music — and the first gig we played together (a Microsoft event, no less!).

I met John in 2004 after moving my family from Northern California to Washington State, where he became a close friend and mentor. John is currently the President of Hyper Networks, an MSP in the Las Vegas area. Before that, he served as the EVP and CTO at Kaseya where he led the integration of more than 20 products as part of more than 9 acquisition events. He was also the SVP and CTO at Code42, worked as an executive for a venture research firm, and led software development efforts at Microsoft for nearly eight years, co-authoring the popular technical book “XML Programming Bible, 3rd Edition.”

Cloud Talk Live#CloudTalkLive

Led by Jeff DeVerter, Cloud Talk brings you discussions on topics like digital transformation, Kubernetes, IoT, edge computing and multicloud, as told through the perspectives of the people and the companies who are living this transformation on a daily basis. In Cloud Talk, Jeff interviews some of the most influential figures on the frontlines of cloud technology, helping you stay connected. In my episode, we discuss how collaboration is central to the way modern work happens, especially in this era of work from home (WFH) and the hybrid office.

As we discuss in the episode, Jeff and I met at the SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas back in 2009. Jeff serves as the Chief Technology Officer over Products and Services at San Antonio-based Rackspace Technology where he has worked for over a decade, and is an official member of the Forbes Technology Council. Jeff is a proven strategic leader who has helped companies like American Express, Ralph Lauren, and Thompson Reuters create and execute against multi-year digital transformation strategies. During his time at Rackspace, Jeff has launched and managed many of the products and services that Rackspace offers, as well as supporting merger and acquisition activities to enhance those offerings.

CollabTalk Podcast Episode 46 with Jeff DeVerter#CollabTalk Podcast

Prior to sitting down with Jeff and John for their podcasts, I caught up with Jeff for my own podcast — and hope to schedule John in the near future. I publish twice a week, with Monday’s dedicated to short(ish) interviews with Microsoft MVPs, Regional Directors, and the occasional Microsoft employee to learn more about their paths through the technical community. On Friday’s I publish full-length interviews with industry experts, influencers, and business leaders as we discuss “the convergence of technology, business productivity, and collaboration culture.”

In Episode 46, Jeff and I focus on the topic of technical literacy and how the maturity of collaboration is opening up new opportunities. You can also check out my short blog summary on the episode, which includes an outline of some of the topics discussed.

Thanks again to John and Jeff for hosting me! Looking forward to doing more of these with other technologists and business leaders in the space.
