Microsoft Community Office Hours, Episode 53

For our 53rd episode this week of the Microsoft Community Office Hours series, I was joined by Mike Nelson, MVP (@MikeNelsonIO), community expert Shari Oswald (@shortcutshari), Eric Riz, MVP (@rizinsights), Hal Hostetler, MVP (@TVWizard), and Microsoft’s Neil Hodgkinson (@nellymo) for another panel discussion shared via live stream in the M365 Community on Facebook, and simulcast on Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

As discussed during the video, Sean McDonough, MVP (@spmcdonough) is temporarily dead to us for missing today’s show. He’ll be back next time. Probably.

In this episode, we covered the following topics:

  • Sean unceremoniously abandones this week’s show [8:21]
  • Mike leads the panel on this week’s Microsoft Message Center updates [9:33]
  • With the outage/issues this week, what does everyone have for a “backup plan” to continue to meet during these?  [25:54]
  • Christian shares a story about one major change due to the pandemic: more empathy toward others with connectivity/WFH difficulties [29:18]
  • What are the best practices for using Word and the “Mailings” function to send out a newsletter via email? [35:48]
  • Why am I unable to upload a new profile picture to Delve — and have it save? [42:39]
  • In a “bring your own device” scenario, can I require my users (which are not on an AAD) to use a Windows 10 password? [45:41]
  • For auto updates on Windows patching, is it possible to halt automatic SharePoint patches/updates? [48:37]
  • Christian makes an outdated joke about Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) [49:29]
  • What powershell version should I use in 2021 and why?  [51:38]
  • Why can’t I reach all the files in Microsoft Teams, even as the owner?  [54:23]
  • Can I authenticate wifi users by using Azure Active Directory? [1:02:27]
  • When using Power Automate and Microsoft Forms, why are only 5 out of 10 attachments added to the list?  [1:04:44]
  • How can I share a folder in SharePoint that has reached its threshold limit? [1:07:28]
  • How can I create a copy of an existing record in Power Apps that is connected to SharePoint list? (we punt)  [1:11:56]
  • How can I remove the breadcrumbs in a SharePoint Online modern site? [1:12:41]
  • Why do I get following message during a chat: “Due to org policy changes, some chat and calling features are no longer available.  Continue your conversation here” but then it does not allow me to continue the chat?  [1:15:02]
  • I’d like to put “Call Me” “Message Me” links in my email signature for members of my organization to contact me through Teams. Can anyone think if a way to trigger these Teams functions by URL? [1:18:59]
    Neil shared this: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/0?users=
  • What will happen if owner deletes the Teams Group from Exchange? (Christian takes this as homework) [1:20:16]
  • I have a SharePoint list that is growing past 5000 items every 3 months or so. Is there a way to allow the list to increase and not impact the filters?  [1:23:48]
  • Using SharePoint 2013 with a custom list that has approval, can the approval be accessed via mobile?  [1:26:28]

You can watch the entire recording here:

If you would like to join one of these sessions as a panelist or to ask questions, you can find us live streaming at 8am Pacific every Monday….except for next Monday (March 29th) which we’ll miss due to the annual Microsoft MVP Summit which is scheduled for the entire week. But don’t fret — we’ll be back on April 5th, like clockwork.
