January 2021 Content Wrap-Up
I’m labeling January as drinking-from-the-fire-hose-month. Or maybe quarter. Between the new gig, AvePoint’s rapid growth (we’re hiring!), and preparing to go public in the coming weeks, there is so much going on behind the scenes. I’ve not had the time to work on some of the content that I had been hoping to publish, but as I adjust to the meeting schedule and partner discussions that fill each and every day, I’ll find my footing again with the content and you’ll see more published here.
Until then, here is my short-but-sweet entry for this past month’s content activities:
In case you missed it, AvePoint Chief Brand office and fellow MVP+RD Dux Raymond Sy (@meetdux) and I conducted a webinar this past month on what remains one of the most commonly asked questions: Which tool should i be using to collaborate? Dux and I ran through some of the common scenarios of using SharePoint versus Microsoft Teams versus Yammer…and I even trotted out some of the old “inner/outer loop” language because I still like using it. The recording is available on demand, of course, so follow the link below to the registration page and check it out.
- What Microsoft 365 Tool To Use When & Top Collab Considerations [AvePoint]
We kicked off the start of our 10th year of the CollabTalk TweetJam (that’s right — it was launched in January 2012) with a great discussion around community management and enterprise collaboration governance. It’s one of the topics that I am passionate about, and the feedback from the MVP and expert community did not disappoint. We also had some great interaction with a few Microsoft people, sharing their takeaways from running Microsoft events and the Microsoft Tech Community. Following the tweetjam, I was able to spend time with long-time community expert Eli Robillard (@erobillard) for a summary discussion, and to hear some of his experiences on the topic.
Thanks again to tyGraph (www.tyGraph.com) and AvePoint (www.AvePoint.com) for sponsoring these monthly community discussions. It is one of my activities that will remain under the CollabTalk brand, as it is a neutral, community-driven initiative. Anyone in the community is welcome to participate.

Office Hours on CollabTalk
For all of those who participated in or watch the CollabTalk Office Hours sessions last year, thank you again for making this a success! We were scheduled to wrap up our show at the end of December to move production underneath the AvePoint brand and relaunch, but when we realized that one more episode in January meant ending on Episode 42, we agreed to trot ourselves out one last time and answer (or attempt to answer) community questions to life, the universe, and everything. Well….from a Microsoft 365 lens. Our past recordings will remain on the CollabTalk YouTube page, but if you’d like to check out our new program, we’ve moved to Wednesdays for our weekly shows, with episodes at 8am and 5pm Pacific. You can RSVP for one of our live shows here.

Due to the afore-mentioned fire hose drinking, I did not conduct too many community interviews in December and January, but have a full docket scheduled for February, with several newly-minted MVPs signed up and ready to share, so watch for updates via my Twitter account @buckleyplanet

Finishing off the month, I was able to connect with fellow MVP Tom Arbuthnot (@tomarbuthnot) to share a few of my predictions for 2021 for Microsoft Teams and collaboration as a whole.
