June Content Recap
Not everything I write about from month to month falls within a planned editorial calendar. In fact, very little follows a plan, much to the chagrin of my team, I think. There’s a kanban list of topics and due dates that may or may not be fulfilled, depending on where the news of the day goes, or a conversation I might have with a customer or a partner. But looking back over the past month’s content, as I do each month when providing an evangelism update for my company, there are clearly themes which stand out, and which I thought I’d highlight in this post. It’s always interesting to put a body of work into perspective, right?
Themes on my mind in June:
“Making the transition to the cloud” stands out as it was the focus of the two AIIM think-tank events I attended in Chicago and London last month, talking with CIOs, CMOs, and IT leaders from some of the world’s largest companies and well-known universities.

The questions surrounding what to do with “a diminishing focus on structured collaboration” is also a recurring theme within my writing as of late, as it seems to me that not enough people are questioning the shift from structured (i.e. ECM) to the unstructured (social) strategies.

Of course, the flip side to this is “the increased focus on social collaboration” which is the topic du jour of every blogger and analyst out there. Clearly, my writing is heavily focused on the business value of these unstructured collaboration decisions, as so many companies seem to be pushing through without considering all of the business implications.

Another recurring theme is the “management of SharePoint, not from an admin’s perspective, but from a business owner’s view.” There is so much content out there that digs deep into specific features and capabilities of the platform, and while I do enjoy digging in and writing information worker content, my focus has very much moved up the stack to decision makers and CxOs, changing the focus of my SharePoint content accordingly.
