The One Thing

Officially launched on December 27th, 2010, the video series “The One Thing You Need to Know About SharePoint 2010” just surpassed 5,000 views on the AxcelerCorp channel on YouTube, with who knows how many views through other distribution channels, such as Facebook and Twitter (neither of which tally against YouTube metrics). While not a MASSIVE number of views, the project is starting to pick up steam, with more people viewing and linking to the content.

What is TheOneThing, you ask? Just a simple question posed to experts and MVPs from around the world, with quite varied answers. The videos may address end users, admin, developers, or business users, and cover broad or very specific capabilities. Some experts overlap in their subject matter – but that doesn’t matter. The point is to hear from them directly about the features and capabilities in SharePoint that stand out in their minds as the one thing people need to know about the platform.

My goal for this content, in addition to expanding the YouTube channel and corresponding page on the Axceler website, is to leverage the experts to expand a little bit on each topic for articles over on NothingButSharePoint.com. I’ve already published a handful of articles, with a new post scheduled each week.

Look for more videos over the course of the year as I participate in events across North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim, talking to the experts, learning from them, and sharing what I record. Your feedback is always welcome!
